Bitty Kneads was founded by Sara Kellner-Tsulis, a New York state-licensed massage therapist. The same month she completed a degree in Occupational Therapy in 2008, she found out she was expecting her own "bitty". This inspired her to follow a track of continuing massage therapy education that would help nourish both moms and their new little bundles. Certified in pre- and post-natal massage, she is also trained and certified by Loving Touch International as an infant massage instructor and by the Liddle Kidz Foundation in pediatric massage. She has also been by certified Cheryl Chapman, RN, LMT, in oncology massage and massage for women who have had a mastectomy or other breast implant.
Throughout both of her pregnancies, she experienced first-hand the full gamut of wondrous, yet taxing, changes that occur in a woman's body as she carries her child. The rich emotions, the physical pains and aches, the exhaustion, the desire to nurture yet also be nurtured...the childbearing year is a kaleidoscopic adventure of discovery. Sara is here to support you on that journey.
When her son was born, she saw this tiny, yet deliciously chubby, being and was humbled by the great responsibility she had been given. Their process of getting to know one another was greatly enriched by the daily massages they shared. She learned about his unique cues and how strong his small body was; he felt love through his mom's touch, learned about body awareness and enjoyed the centering relaxation the massage provided. Sara experienced hands-on what a truly invaluable skill it is to know about your baby's anatomy and how to touch them in a way that will bring about so many physical and emotional benefits, for both parties. She has since had a daughter who also benefits from receiving regular massage!
Sara has held infant massage workshops at wellness centers, given one-on-one private lessons, and taught small groups at a pediatrician's office. These sessions where she empower parents and caregivers to connect with their child on a sentient level have been so incredibly rewarding and she thanks every family who has invited her into their sacred space.
Her adult clients are based throughout the city and enjoy sessions within the comfort of their own home. Helping women at any stage of their lives - whether or not they are moms - to become more relaxed and at ease within their bodies is a goal she takes very seriously. Easing an acute issue, bringing relief to something more chronic, or just assisting her client in decompressing and releasing the tension that has unknowingly built up in the body, are just a few of the benefits a 1-hour session can bring.
She loves what she does and thinks you will too.
"Being touched and caressed, being massaged, is food for the infant. Food as necessary as minerals, vitamins and proteins."
